  • Synopsis

There are no projectors or slides, as is typical of traditional lectures. There is a table, a sofa, orange juice, an alien, and a speaker. In this mini-lecture, the starting point is the world of children, which makes communication possible, richer and, above all, more motivating and fun.

André Leonor has a degree in Philosophy and Psychology, is a teacher and the author of secondary school textbooks. He has been teaching philosophy to children since 2006. His most direct link to the theatre is through the Cascais Professional Theatre School, where he has been a teacher since 2014. He wrote the script and performed it at the first Mini-conference for Curious Girls and Boys at the Maria Matos Theatre in May 2017.

Is it possible to explain what a utopia is to children? How do we go about it? Can we combine such a specific subject with an artistic language that makes it more accessible?

This is the challenge. Through a lecture-theatre performance, rooted in the world of non-fiction, the speaker-artist will seek to present the world and its discourses to a younger audience, skilfully deconstructing a complex and difficult concept that we encounter in our daily lives.
