We want to hear and think together about how we can create, produce, and program for (and with) children and young audiences.
LU.CA – Luís de Camões Theater is the venue in Portugal dedicated exclusively to the performing arts for children and adolescents. This mission motivated us to propose a joint reflection with other institutions with of similar nature, artists with international experience, educators, researchers, and with the children themselves.
We want to hear and think together about how we can create, produce and program for (and with) children and young audiences; what are the options out there for this target and what impact they have in cities. How they are thought out and what feedback opportunities are given to each child; what educational modes are friendlier to a comprehensive education to be shared between schools, family communities (or other), and cultural institutions; what has worked for children and young people brought artists and, finally, but most importantly, what do children and young people think of all this? What can they contribute to a space devoted to them?
Confirmed guests: Catarina Sobral (Illustrator / PT), Gabriela Trevisan (Professor at Paula Frassinetti School of Education/ PT), Gino Coomans (BRONKS Theater for a Young Audience / BE); Helena Singer (sociologist / BR), Jorge Ramos do Ó (UL / PT), Manuel Sarmento (UM / PT), Pedro Penim (Actor and Director / PT), Virgilio Varela, Participação e Criatividade / PT).
