Water covers 70% of the Earth – which is why we call it the Blue Planet – and its behaviour has a major influence on weather conditions, meaning it is the main responsible factor for the mild climate that allows survival. In the year Lisbon is European Green Capital, LU.CA joins this initiative with the + Blue cycle, a programme that over 10 days seeks to raise awareness and debate climate action.
We are depleting what the planet has to offer us and extracting more resources than necessary, meaning consumption is excessive. On 29 July 2019, humanity reached the limit of Earth’s natural resources for that year. What are these resources?
To explore and clarify these issues, we invited a water and climate disaster manager, biologists and marine biologists, chemical engineers, a visual artist and an actress. Through debates, films, books and staged readings, walks to the gardens of Belém and Ajuda, workshops and an exhibition, we will gain a better understanding of the causes of climate disruption.
