Description
An exhibition of sculptures made of garbage found in beaches, which seeks to raise the awareness of children for the plastic pollution issue.
Synopsis
+ Blue Cycle
You know that it is possible to do a lot with very little and give other forms to shapes that we know already, reinventing plastic waste that can be found on the shores and in the sea. Inspired by this idea, Ricardo Nicolau created three outdoor benches, all made in recycled plastic, to place them at the entrance door of LU.CA, next to our favorite tree.
Biography
Ricardo Nicolau de Almeida was born in Porto in 1975 and was always curious and interested in expressing his experience. He graduated in communication design, at ESAD in Matosinhos, and for ten years developing his technique in drawing, painting and other processes, means, and different materials. In 2014 he made his first exhibition with beach garbage. He then started understanding that this issue was getting worst and more intense.
Ricardo has been creating several interventions and awareness actions, using creativity and art as a weapon of expression, self-knowledge, a tool for sharing, for getting to know and to respect the Earth.
