Description

An exhibition that graphically reinterprets the principles of the Universal Declaration of the Rights of the Child.

Synopsis

This exhibition graphically reinterprets the principles of the Universal Declaration of the Rights of the Child using images from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, sourced from French archives and libraries. Through its unique iconography and an optical device, it explores ways of seeing and displaying images.

 

Gabinete Paratextual

Gabinete Paratextual is an imaginary collective that perceives publishing as a creative problem and is dedicated to questioning the role of each participant in the production process. It cultivates a fluid relationship between form and content and considers publishing as a shared space among editors, designers, translators, writers, proof-readers, illustrators, and photographers. Production methods, finishing, and print runs are active elements, conceiving publishing as a phenomenon of continuous rewriting and redesign. Since 2017, Gabinete Paratextual has been working under the guidance of Rui Silva, but in direct collaboration with various artists, some undoubtedly living and others not so much.
