Synopsis
Continuing the initiative that began in 2021, we are kicking off another season with the launch of the Supervised Artist-in-Residence program at LU.CA. These residencies—which will take place throughout 2023—aim primarily to support artistic creation for children and young people and to address a gap identified in Portugal’s artistic landscape: access to on-stage rehearsal spaces with technical support.
During the residency, in addition to using the entire space of the theater, the artists will be supported by the theater’s technical and stage crew. This will allow them to explore the possibilities offered by lighting, sound, video, and stage machinery in a fully equipped theater, with the ongoing support of the LU.CA’s team.
Applications for these four residencies will be accepted through an open call for artists working in the fields of theater, dance, video, music, poetry, and film; each artistic residency lasts one week. Preference will be given to applications for creative projects aimed at children and young people.
