Description

What if teenagers could sit in Parliament?

Synopsis

In I Request the Floor, a parliament is staged, a universal assembly, where the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is debated. In a not-too-distant future, 2030, teenagers from all over the world are going to the streets to demand that this Declaration – the only document common to all nations – be truly applied.

In this parliament, which will be filmed and projected in real time, politics is called to get closer to young people and forced to rethink itself: if we were all teenagers once, what happens to that strength and will to change when we occupy positions of power?

Based on Article 1: “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”, the MPs debate, between caricatures and epiphanies, the right to “be whoever we want to be” and the duty to respect ourselves and our specificities, with a focus on gender and identity matters.

With humor, the aim is to instigate and deepen our notion of the Other, in this great assembly that is, after all, the theater.
