It’s a show, it’s a recipe manual. It’s a book, it’s a television programme, it’s recipes for the web – it’s food everywhere, all the time, the frenzy of hunger that isn’t hunger, just the desire to eat. With your eyes. And your hands. And your mouth, of course. From folktales, to idioms that no one knows where they came from, to recipes on TV, to what grandmothers say – and why is it always grandmothers? – to those little hands and delicate threads. The know-how and the flavours – BORING! The great figures of Portuguese gastronomy. But, after all, with such a weighty heritage and with the [food] wheel already invented, what does it mean to eat in the first quarter of the new millennium? Warhol’s fifteen minutes of fame have turned into fifteen seconds, and after spending all that time talking, in the end there’s only frozen fish to eat… And we accept the challenge: from the least exciting thing in the world, we’ll make the best burger you’ll ever remember. One that you will remember. “Don’t give him a fish; teach him how to fish” – OH, GIVE ME A BREAK!
