Description

A revisitation of the story of Sleeping Beauty based on the text by Agustina Bessa-Luís.

Synopsis

The story of The Sleeping Beauty was told by Charles Perrault a long time ago. To such a degree that, more than 350 years later, Agustina Bessa-Luís rewrote the text, giving it new meanings inspired by the world of dreams and the legendary slumber of the sleeping princess. In this performance, Beatriz Brás, Martim Sousa Tavares and Francisco Lourenço revisit this timeless story, relaying it also through music and images.

A Different Sleeping Beauty is a reflexion on how, on the theatre stage or while we sleep, we inhabit an oneiric world where we experiment with being who we want. And in the end, this is exactly what growing up is.

Performance included in the commemorations of the centenary of Agustina Bessa Luís (1922-2022)
