Synopsis
What does it mean to “make theatre”? Who are the people involved? Who does it, what do they do, and where do they do it?
It’s often said that theatre is made from a text. But if there’s no text, is there no theatre? And if there’s no stage, does theatre not happen?
In this workshop, theatre will introduce itself, show how it works, and reveal its secrets. Over the course of a week, in small or large groups or individually, we’ll get to know some of theatre’s professions, from the most visible (like the actor) to the least visible (like the playwright or costume designer). We’ll try out different starting points for creating a show: text, body, space, light.
LU.CA theatre presents itself, and we try our hand at “making theatre.” Each in their own way — and in the way of Theatre, of course.
