Short films that give us ideas to transform the world.

A selection of films that reveals vastly different realities. Yet, if we look closely, we might discover they are all quite similar. In each story, we find creative ideas for changing the (our) world.

 

Beach Flags (France, Iran, Animation, with Portuguese subtitles, 14 min.)

Vida is young Iranian lifeguard who is very popular on her swimming team. She is determined to participate in a competition in Australia, despite it being forbidden for women in Iran.

The Lottery (Turkey, Live-action, with Portuguese subtitles, 17 min.)

A smart, ambitious boy who can’t stand for injustice. When a lottery game arrives to the neighbourhood grocery shop, he chases after the big prizes the owner doesn’t want to lose as he keeps the game going.

Caine’s Arcade (USA, Live-action, with Portuguese subtitles, 11 min.)

Nine-year-old Caine Monroy spent his summer holiday building a cardboard arcade in his dad’s shop, inviting customers to play. The summer passed without a single customer, until filmmaker Nirvan Mullick showed up and became his first. What happened next was magic…
