And so begins a new season at LU.CA
And so begins a new season at LU.CA
We begin a new phase of the year, we get ready for the coming school year, we are confronted with the fact that our winter clothes no longer fit us, that we have grown, and that five more centimetres in height make the world look different.
And so, beginning to understand what surrounds us, we contribute towards its change as we move into the next four months of the year.
Everything is in permanent renewal.
The world we once knew is changing, as is the perception we have about money and its representation. Never before have we felt such a fast alteration in the price and value of things, and consequently what can and cannot be bought and sold. Together we are going to think about what money is and what it represents, positioned in a balance and relationship with what money cannot buy. For this reason, it is also a time to celebrate what cannot be purchased, even with all the gold in the world: the loyalty of a good friend, the warmth of being held, honesty, a kiss, a real smile, a baby that is about to be born.
If art serves to help us alienate ourselves from the world, it surely also serves to help us understand it better. With the Money Series, which will take place throughout the month of November, we are going to discover the stories that lie within the coins and notes we carry in our pockets, understand how money is made, what is cryptocurrency, and that in reality the things that are worth the most apparently have very small sizes. After this series, which also includes financial literacy activities for children, and this time also for parents, we are surely going to look at money differently. The best way possible.
As for us, we guarantee that the prices of LU.CA activities will not change until the end of 2022.
What A Great Bang is a João Fazenda revival that many families were waiting for. This performance is coupled with an exhibition and workshops on the weekends. Still in October Does Laziness Attack? is a historical dance performance, created by Aldara Bizarro in the context of the old CCB Centre of Pedagogy and Entertainment that we chose to revive now because laziness continues to be a current theme and attacks often. To close the year, we bring back The State of the World by Miguel Fragata and Inês Barahona, which debut at LU.CA in 2021 and will inspire us towards a more sustainable way of thinking during a time of year in which we are easily led into a wave of shopping.
We continue to develop exhibitions, film screenings, online mini conferences, workshops, artistic residencies and going to schools with performances especially conceived for that purpose. Find out everything we have in store for you inside this brochure.
