Description
A workshop to teach children and young people (as well as families) to manage their money according to their needs, desires and goals.
Synopsis
We learn not to waste food, not to waste water, not to waste resources… What is money if not a finite resource that we obtain through our work? Talking about money is still a tabu. In this financial literacy workshop, we aim to teach children and young audiences (as well as families) to manage their money according to their needs, desires and objectives in order to be able to also save money.
The Money, what are you for? workshop is presented in two formats. In the classroom, through three workshops directed towards schools, and at LU.CA, in a version specifically dedicated to families. In the latter, participation happens in three different moments: one for children, where themes will be presented in a light and playful manner, another for guardians, who can share their preoccupations, doubts and questions. Lastly, a family moment where the concepts and lessons are brought together so that this work can continue at home.
Margarida Vilela Madeira and Sónia Morgado
Margarida Madeira and Sónia Morgado, both with degrees in Business Management, dedicated a great part of their professional lives to the field of consulting. In 2008, they created a financial consulting project with the objective of helping Portuguese families balance their finances and learn to manage their budget. The project ended up showing that financial education needs to start from an early age and as such they dedicated themselves to the É Tempo project of financial education for children and teenagers.
