Description
João Fazenda continues the performance “What a Great Bang”, at LU.CA’s middle floor.
Synopsis
Among theatres made of paper, cardboard, acetate, color, and light, we can peek and find out that things aren’t exactly as they seem, after all: all we need to do is shifting our angle. Theatres are, just like the performance itself, hybrid objects, both tridimensional and bidimensional.
João Fazenda
Born in 1979, in Lisbon. João studied Graphic Arts at António Arroio School and graduated in painting at Lisbon’s Fine Arts School (Faculdade de Belas-Artes de Lisboa – FBAUL). His work comprises illustrations, animation, cartoons, painting, and drawing. He works regularly as an illustrator for publications such as Visão, The New York Times, The New Yorker, among others.
João Fazenda took part in several collective and solo exhibitions all over the world. He teaches illustration at FBAUL and has won numerous national and international awards.
He has illustrated children and poetry books, theater plays, film posters, and album covers. In 2018, LU.CA has dedicated a cycle to its work, taking his performance, Spoken Portrait (2014) as a starting point.
