Synopsis
We know that not everything written in books is real. But sometimes, almost without noticing, we find stories that offer new lenses to see the world. The reading series It’s not fiction, which LU.CA is starting this season, lends the stage to contemporary texts on topics or issues which are important to address. The reading is accompanied by images and soundscapes because different artistic expressions can deepen our understanding of a subject. In the end, we talk, exchange ideas, ask questions, and discover answers together.
The first session of It’s not fiction is dedicated to the book MPs of the Future, Hello!, written by Isabel Minhós Martins and illustrated by Carolina Celas. It all begins with a statement that makes us think: All the MPs we see in Parliament today once played in a school playground. Starting from this premise, we may better understand what the people who occupy Parliament today were like, and how those who occupy it tomorrow will be.
