Teachers are the strongest allies in mobilizing and raising student awareness of ocean literacy. As such, it is imperative that you know Plasticus maritimus, a species that has taken over our lives and is now everywhere causing a multitude of problems. It is essential to understand what it is, where it comes from, what are the impacts of its uncontrolled use and what can be done to minimize the problem and how we can master it. By exploring both a scientific and artistic approach, in this workshop tools will be provided for teachers to apply in their classroom. Through teachers, it is possible to enhance students’ knowledge about the ocean, their willingness to protect it, therefore promoting behavioral change.<\/p>\n

Biography<\/strong>
\nAna P\u00eago studied Marine Biology and Fishery at the University of Algarve and was a research fellow for several years.<\/p>\n

In 2012, Ana started devoting herself to environmental education,\u00a0 associating science with art. The realization and increasing concern with \u201cmarine trash\u201d led to deepening knowledge and creating educational projects on this topic.
\nIn December 2015 created the page Plasticus maritimus to share the findings that give the coast on our beaches.<\/p>\n
