It has been 45 years since\u00a0 the April 25th Revolution, and we will always need to remember what happened that day and how it was experienced at the time, and celebrate Freedom. In this programme, which includes workshops and film sessions, we are being asked to see, to create, and to think about what it means to be free today.<\/p>\n

O Cravo da Liberdade<\/strong> (The Carnation of Freedom)<\/p>\n Children age 11-13 from Escola das Taipas supervised by Abi Feij\u00f3, Pedro Serrazina, Regina Pessoa, Portugal, 1996, 4\u2019, animation<\/p>\n Summary: <\/p>\n Amanh\u00e3 <\/strong>(Tomorrow) Summary: <\/p>\n The Ugly Kid Club <\/strong>(O Clube das Crian\u00e7as Feias) Summary:<\/p>\n The Club of Ugly Children tells the story of president Isimo, who decides to capture all ugly children. The 11-year-old Paul is a shy boy with floppy ears.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Programme organizers: IRINA RAIMUNDO, MAFALDA MELO, MIGUEL VALVERDE and NUNO SENA.<\/p>\n What is freedom? Where do we feel ourselves freer? How are our freedom dreams like? Freedom is indeed a precious thing we carry within and with us everyday, in our steps, in our choices, and with those around us. These two artist-directors have come up with an activity where we will be creating moving images inspired by the different ideas of what freedom is. The workshop kicks off with the reading of a passage of the short-story \u201cO tesouro\u201d (The Treasure) by Manuel Antonio Pina, and includes the screening of one of the films from our film sessions: Solveig Norlund’s \u201cAmanh\u00e3\u201d (Tomorrow).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On the weekend, alongside our film sessions, there will be a moving image workshop, based on the different notions of freedom.<\/p>\n Cl\u00e1udia Alves<\/strong>\u00a0(Lisbon, 1980) is a visual artist and independent film-maker. She graduated in Documentary at the San Ant\u00f3nio de Los Ba\u00f1os International School of Film (Cuba). She has a degree in Fine Arts (Painting) from the University of Lisbon School of Fine Arts, and has studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, Italy. Cl\u00e1udia has worked as a film director and photographer in several short films in Portugal, Brazil and Cuba.<\/p>\n Maria Rem\u00e9dio was born in Lisbon, where she studied Painting and Audiovisuals at the U. of Lisbon School of Fine Arts, and Children’s Book at the Catholic University.<\/p>\n She works as a freelancer in illustration, video and education. \nNuno, a 9-year-old boy, runs away from home in the evening of April 24th 1974 and hides out in an abandoned building. People were running down the stairs and now gone. Yet the streets are full of people, army tanks and soldiers. It’s April 25th . Could his mom have started a revolution just to get him back home?<\/p>\n
